God has set eternity in the human heart, but unfortunately; our days are not actually eternal. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says: “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.” Out of each day’s twenty-four hours, we have about sixteen to finish a seemingly endless number of tasks. Before long, we look down at our phone and wonder, as Dr. Seuss did, “How did it get so late so soon?”
Even Christians who allot time daily to pray and read scripture often can’t squeeze in time to delve more deeply. That research we wanted to do on the Bible passage we read this morning? No time for more than a quick Google search. That interview with a Christian author someone told us about last week? We don’t have the hour to sit down and view it. As we check off items on our to-do list, dust collects on that latest Christian book we bought.
Podcasts are a potential answer. One reason that the percentage of podcast listeners age 12 and older has quadrupled since 2008 may be that podcasts fit our busy schedules. Even if we don’t have time to sit down and read from our ever-growing pile of books, we can listen to a podcast episode while commuting to work or cleaning the house.
The editors of Lord’s Library want to save you even more time by helping you decide which podcasts are worthwhile. Below is an alphabetized list of our favorite Christian apologetics podcasts. These are so absorbing that you’ll forget you’re folding laundry as you listen.
Note: The best Christian Apologetics podcasts are listed in alphabetical order.
The Best Christian Apologetics Podcasts
Apologia Radio
This is the podcast of former martial arts expert and actor turned Christian apologist and pastor, Jeff Durbin. The podcast’s motto is “Gospel Driven, Hard Hitting, Culturally Relevant.” Pay attention—that’s an apt description. Durbin and guests present a Biblical perspective on events of the day (e.g., the latest episode is on the Uvalde, Texas, school shooting). But be prepared: Durbin’s style is not for everyone; “hard hitting” applies here. But if you like an edge to your apologetics, this podcast is worth checking out.
Bible Answer Man
We couldn’t leave out this classic. Hank Hanegraaff, the “Bible Answer Man,” has had a nationally syndicated radio show by the same name for nearly thirty years. This podcast is a recording of that live show— good news for those who live in areas that don’t air the program. Hanegraaff, the author of several bestselling Christian apologetics books, addresses questions from listener phone calls, posts on his Facebook page, and emails. If you’ve “always wondered” about a particular Biblical issue, someone else probably has, too, so you’ll eventually hear Hanegraaff address it on this podcast. He also occasionally interviews other Christian authors and filmmakers on the show.
Got Questions
This is the apologetics podcast for those who may say that they’re not into apologetics. It is simple, straightforward, and most important, grounded in the Bible. For many Christians, the same-named website has long been a go-to resource for perplexing Biblical questions. The podcast is a useful addendum to that. Each episode highlights a Biblical or doctrinal issue or examines relevant current events through a Biblical lens. What we at Lord’s Library appreciate about the Got Questions podcast is that its focus is not on the personalities of the hosts or staff: It is on the Bible.
Mamabear Apologetics
Christian apologists and authors Hillary Morgan Ferrer (founder) and Amy Davison host Mamabear apologetics. As the name implies, this podcast is aimed at mothers who want to prepare their children to stand strong in their faith amid an increasingly anti-Christian cultural landscape. Episodes highlight current controversies and provide Biblical responses. Not a mom? No worries — Ferrer and Davison’s discussions prepare Christians of any circumstance to be more astute witnesses for Christ. These two ladies make the complex simple.
Reasonable Faith
A website by this same name made our “top four” list of Christian apologetics websites. The podcast is a worthwhile listen, too. Each week, host Kevin Harris identifies blog posts, videos, and articles that present provocative content related to Christianity or specifically targeting arguments made by apologist Dr. William Lane Craig. Craig joins Harris to react to that content. In other episodes, he answers questions posted by visitors to his Reasonable Faith website. Craig is an academic and sometimes it shows in his discussions of metaphysics and other such subjects, but even so, most episodes aren’t too weighty for the average listener to appreciate.
Unbelievable?
Part of the outreach of Premier Christian radio, this podcast features a debate format. You’ll hear spirited discussions between notorious atheists like Richard Dawkins and contenders for the faith, like Francis Collins. It’s not just Christians versus atheists, though: The podcast often features two or more Christians debating issues like free will or cessationism. Unbelievable is an enlightening foray into nearly any Biblical or Christian doctrinal issue. Justin Brierly, the host and a Christian himself, is fair-minded and cool-headed as he moderates some intense discussions.
Final Thoughts
We have less time in today’s world, but that doesn’t mean we have to be less informed. Subscribing to one of the best Christian apologetics podcasts will equip each of us to be a “workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” as stated in 2 Timothy 2:15.
