I find the verses Mark 5:33-34 to be abundantly rich in substance: “But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.”
The context concerns a woman who had been bleeding for years and was unable to get any relief even though she had gone from doctor to doctor and spent all the money she had available. But then she found Jesus. Are you reading this? She found Jesus. And her goal in life became to just get close enough to touch even the hem of His clothing. See Mark 5:28: “For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.”
We often speak of and ask for Jesus to touch us. But how many of us are driven to find Jesus—how many of us make our sole purpose getting close enough to the Savior to touch Him? Dear friend It is worth the effort—He will always touch us in return when we reach out to Him.
Woman Bleeding for 12 Years Bible Verse
Mark 5:33 says: “But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.” She knew, she was receptive to the power of touching Jesus and recognized what it had accomplished. That one touch changed her entire life forever. How sensitive are we to the impact that touching Christ can evoke and the transformation it can produce?
I love her response as she acknowledges what had occurred. In humility and gratitude, she fell down before Him. How often do we fall prostrate before the Lord declaring our indebtedness for what He has wrought?
Then notice the phrase, “told Him all the truth.”—the whole truth. In spite of the fearfulness she felt, she left nothing out—held nothing back. She did not have the privilege of knowing as we do today that there was no cause for her to experience alarm or apprehension when addressing Jesus.
Do we tell the Savior the whole truth—express our minds openly? Well, we have been given a divine invitation to speak freely. Hebrews 4:16 is one of the confirming Scriptures: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
There are many references in the New Testament to latitude in approaching God with openness and candor.
But the declaration that came next in Mark 5:34 is provoking: “And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.” First consider how Jesus’ response to this lady’s honesty was evidenced by His term of endearment— “Daughter.” That one word shouts strong emotions of love, sympathy, and compassion that were elicited from the heart of the Master. And what was it that affected the healing? It was her faith, trust, and confidence that held the key.
Let us remember when we come to our Heavenly Father bluntly and frankly longing for restoration, healing, peace, and freedom—the essential ingredient is our faith. See Ephesians 3:12: “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.”
